Our kind friend XYZ took an IELTS exam in Nigeria, and shared the following questions:

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

We were given two diagrams (pictures) of a small town called Bridgetown. The first was a picture of the town in 1700 and the second was in the year 2000. We had to make comparisons between the two images and basically state the noticeable differences/similarities/features in the town’s appearance in those two years.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some people think that economic development is the only way to end world poverty and hunger. Others argue that economic development is damaging the environment and needs to stop. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.

Part 1 (Interview)

– Can you tell me your full name?

– Tell me where you come from.
– Describe the home, whether a flat or a house that you live in.
– Do you enjoy where you live now?

Part 2 (Cue Card)

Describe an enjoyable journey you had via public transport. You should say:
– when and where you went
– who you went with
– the reason for going on the journey
– what things you did that made the journey more enjoyable.
