Detailed essay Homelessness is increasing in many major cities around the world.
The primary metropolis across the globe is facing a burning crisis in terms of people without a roof over their heads. In the present competitive world, one has to run a rat race as it is a survival of the fittest be it either in rural or urban areas.
The essay examines the source of people being down and out in big
cosmopolis and also suggests solutions to overcome the same.
First and foremost, gentrification in the predominant cities is
creating homelessness to the people of the lower class living downtown. Keeping
in mind the development of the city, the suburbs and slums are being occupied
by the affluent leaving the residents of such areas without shelter on their
heads giving them no choice but to put up tents and live on the streets.
In continuation, as a measure, the governing body of urban
development can come up with free housing for the underprivileged people of society
to reduce the number of homeless people in the city. In other words, as the
saying goes every problem has a solution, likewise rooting down the dwellings
of the poor to develop high-lifestyle buildings, the people who are deprived of
shelter should be given free housing in another area within the city limits so
that the people are not left deserted on the streets.
Secondly, many young people from rural areas are attracted to the
greener pastures in cities and migrate to urban areas so that they can lead a
good lifestyle.
The youngsters, after moving to big cities from small towns and
villages realize that city life is a roller-coaster ride and end up being
penniless, unemployed without a shelter to live in. Furthermore, poverty,
hunger, and street tents may tempt such people to indulge in criminal
activities such as thieving, shoplifting, mugging so on and so forth. This
source could become a headache for the law-protectors.
To overcome such a situation is that the city municipal body
should create good employment and education opportunities for the youth who
come from rural areas so that they do not face homelessness.
In conclusion, many predominant cities across the globe are facing issues such as people without shelter and to solve the same problem, the Government is coming up with measures to eradicate homelessness.
