Cue Card: Describe a time when you suffered from disease/sickness Transcript
Human beings are prone to sickness or ailments at different phases in their lives. My parents were quite hale and healthy and would fall sick occasionally. I would feel under the weather rarely. It so happened a couple of years back, while walking i started to experience imbalance and slowly the frequency of imbalance started to increase. I thought that it was not a good sign and decided to see a Neurologist for the same. The doctor examined me and asked me to get an MRI done as a routine. I was unaware of my health till I got the MRI report on hand. I was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and had to get it removed immediately. I was grief-stricken at that moment and had made up my mind that it was the end of my journey in life. My son who was in a different place came down to the city I lived and flew me to my hometown and showed me to another Neurologist who told me to undergo surgery at the earliest and asked me what symptoms I had, unfortunately, I had no symptoms to show that I had a tumour. The only problem I faced was imbalance. All pre-operation diagnoses and procedures were done and the day was fixed. I got operated and the tumour was removed. Initially, after the surgery, I had terrible pain on the right side of my brain. I was given a high dosage of painkillers to bring the pain and infection down. The post-surgery had some impacts on me such as deafness in my right ear and i lose of my tear gland nerve in my right eye. After a couple of days of my surgery, it was difficult for me to manage myself both physically and mentally. It was a little difficult for me to digest my health condition as I did not have any serious ailments and never showed any symptoms of a Brain Tumour. After the surgery, I learned to live with the reality that at times the human body can show signs of ailment be it small or serious like mine. This experience taught me to believe in myself and trust the medical professionals to treat us accordingly and help us to back to our feet.
