Part 2 (Cue Card)

Talk about a complaint you made that was resolved to your satisfaction. You should say

- when it was

- where it was

- what you complained about and to whom

and explain how it was resolved to your satisfaction.

Sample Answer:  Alright, here's a sample response for the IELTS Part 2 question about a complaint I made that was resolved to my satisfaction: A few months ago, I had an experience with a faulty laptop that needed to be resolved. It happened at the electronics store where I had purchased the laptop, and the incident took place approximately six months after I bought the device. The store is a well-known electronics retail chain located in a shopping mall near my place. I had chosen this particular store because of their reputation for good customer service and a wide range of electronic products. The issue with the laptop arose when I noticed that it would frequently shut down unexpectedly, even with a full battery charge. This problem became increasingly frustrating as it started interfering with my work and daily tasks. Concerned about the malfunction, I decided to address the issue and make a complaint to the store's customer service department. I approached the store manager and explained the situation, providing them with all the necessary details, such as the purchase date, the specific problem with the laptop, and the troubleshooting steps I had already attempted. The store manager was very attentive and understanding of my situation. They apologized for the inconvenience caused and assured me that they would take immediate action to resolve the problem. They offered me two options: either getting a replacement laptop or having the current one sent for repairs free of charge. Since I needed a functional laptop quickly, I opted for the replacement. To my satisfaction, the store manager not only arranged for a new laptop but also allowed me to upgrade to a higher model at no additional cost. This gesture pleasantly surprised me, and it showed the store's commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction. Within a couple of days, I received the new laptop, and it worked flawlessly. The issue was completely resolved, and I was relieved to have a fully functioning laptop again. The whole process was smooth and hassle-free, thanks to the prompt and effective response from the store's customer service team. In conclusion, my complaint about the faulty laptop was addressed to my satisfaction by the electronics store. They were responsive, understanding, and provided a favorable solution by offering a replacement with an upgrade. I was pleased with how efficiently they handled the situation, making me feel valued as a customer. This experience reinforced my trust in the store and their commitment to ensuring customer happiness.

Part 2 (Cue Card)

Talk about a complaint you made that was resolved to your satisfaction. You should say

- when it was

- where it was

- what you complained about and to whom

and explain how it was resolved to your satisfaction.

Sample Answer:

Sure, I can talk about a complaint that I made that was resolved to my satisfaction.

  • When: This happened a few months ago.
  • Where: I was at a restaurant in my city.
  • What: I complained about the food. I ordered a steak, and it was overcooked and dry.
  • To whom: I spoke to the waiter, and he took my complaint to the manager.
  • How it was resolved: The manager apologized for the inconvenience and offered me a free dessert. He also said that he would speak to the chef about the steak. I was satisfied with the resolution, and I left the restaurant feeling happy.

I was happy with the way that my complaint was resolved because the manager was understanding and took my complaint seriously. He also offered me a free dessert, which was a nice gesture. I felt that my complaint was heard and that the restaurant was willing to make things right. I think it's important to be able to complain effectively. If you're not happy with something, you should speak up. You may not always get what you want, but at least you'll have a chance to be heard.
